I was asked to represent The Float Spa as part of the launch for Brighton’s Foodies Festival on Hove Lawns . This is the first year, 2017, that they have collaborated with health and well being.
Back to my question, what’s the connection? After teaching yoga in the The Float Spa tent I had a good look around the festival. I sampled some lush Rum by the way and Gin, excuse me! Seriously, what I witnessed was, the love of food, the joy of eating and sharing as well as an awesome community vibe. That, is, what I call, unity in action.
Chefs that have dedicated their lives to the art and love of cooking is akin to a spirituality in it’s own right. There were some fantastic vegetarian and vegan options, too. You don’t have to look far for the links between food, community, love, joy and yoga.
Whatever it takes to bring our often divided communities together I am up for that, in a big way.
It was great to meet 64 Degrees, restaurant owner and head chef Michael J Bremner at the shoot, pretty cool guy, lives in Hove and wife goes to The Float Spa. However, he told me he had never done yoga before, with that look on his face like…and I’m never gonna change that fact. Well before he knew it I was teaching him how to warrior pose!
I must admit he did comply quite willingly and he didn’t seem to mind leaning on my feet as I did a handstand. Things you do as a yoga teacher.
The final icing on the cake, I did intend that pun, was seeing myself on the ITV news lol! I wasn’t expecting that as you can see the north wind nearly blew me off balance in ‘dancer pose’. Just get the name right next time guys! All in good fun though. Good on you Foodies Festival.
